Omg lookit the name.

I am full of lists.  When I can feel myself getting sick:

[sleep]
* Try to go to bed an hour earlier than usual.  Don't push it, but.
* Don't overexert myself.  (I failed this today, in that I walked a lot.)

[food]
* Eat lots of good, boring food.  Make sure to stay on the full side of things.  (I am usually not, so.)
* Buy soup or other easy-to-make things.  Hell, buy chicken broth and put it in a thermos, if need be.

[water]
* Make tea.  (Today's was one of Gypsy Cold Care, one of Organic Echinacea, and a dash of red peppers.  Nothing special, but the red peppers felt really nice.)
* Drink tons of water.  See also "tea".

[meds &c]
* Take a multivitamin.
* Make sure I have NyQuil.
* Buy tissues or stock up on toilet paper.

[other]
* Clean my room up a bit, as I'll have no energy for it later, and tidiness helps immensely.
* If I'm living with someone, warn them.  Same if I've spent close time with someone in the past couple of days.
* Do a load of laundry.
* Take a stupendously hot shower.

I'm good at lists.

What do you do when you can feel yourself getting sick?
Tue, Jul. 22nd, 2008 - 22:01 - ahahahaha.

Today's mood math, wherein which I stubbornly put a + next to each -, because I will be damned if I let this be a bad day.

- The hot water still isn't working.
+ I washed my hair anyways.
+ I've drunk a full liter of water.
- Gloomy gus o'clock weather.
+ My foot is lessening in its hurtingness.
+ Hooray for a MediaWiki table structure image.
- Ran a bit late for work.
- The bread I keep at work got moldy.
+ I have an Excel spreadsheet that holds the MediaWiki table structure, because I really do like Excel too much.
+ I'm learning the MySQL command line stuff.

I have a million programs open with a million tabs per program, and this pleases me.

Yesterday, Josh and I:

* walked approximately forever
* cleaned the leftover kitchen grease from his kitchen
* swore at the former tenants
* went to a birthday party
* went to Claudia's for karaoke
* generally had a good goddamn day

Downside: walking forever hurt my left foot, and favouring it has hurt my right foot and hip.  Glorious.

Upside: *glee*

Today, I have a wicked headache.  But, I get to clean up his laptop, which is fantastic.  Goodbye, McAfee, you condescending fuckernut.

X: I should just say "whine whine whine" when I talk about my foot, because that's all I'm doing.

Brad: Apparently there is a nursing stray in the back yard. She put out some food and untainted water yesterday.
Xtina: !

Brad: You may want to take such measures as well.
Brad: Apparently the mommy was on the back porch, panting
Xtina: KITTY
Xtina: :(  Poor kitteh.
Brad: Or, ooh! Put out the tub with towels and such again!
Xtina: Oh oh!
Xtina: When do I first come over?
Xtina: Now?
Xtina: Perhaps?
Xtina: (kitty)
Brad: Well, you could! Check up on Julie, if nothing else, and see kitty. Sure.
Brad: Today is Wednesday, yes?
Xtina: ::flails about kitty::
Xtina: Today is Caturday.  As it turns out.

KITTY.  DO WANT.

Sadly, cannot has; does not can has sufficient funds.  But I may see how friendly La Kitteh is, and see if I can't find homes for the poor critturz.  Or at least take her et al to the vet, get 'em all checked out, and find out when it'll be safe to have her speutered.

Today has turned out to be a day, much like days tend to be, that being, units of time.

I've had a bad headache for most of it, because I fell into the trap of weekend sleep == sleeping in.  This is objectively incorrect.

But, I followed my list, and I am feeling better.  (Caffeine, water, food, shower, no music, painkiller, and sleep if I must.)  I like lists, sometimes.

Today, I'll be trying out cooking sausage and sprouts together.  I may make something on the side, but doubtful.  Fried in butter, because mmm.  Further input welcome, but I think I should do fine.

I dreamt that Rose no longer loved me, in fact no longer recognised me.  I woke up from that because it made no sense.

It's like sometimes, my brain decides that the way to wake me up is to put lies in my head, so I'll wake up just because like that even works.

Mind you, I stayed asleep for the part where I trudged up two miles of snowy mountain in order to get three ceramic "that penguin in the Wallace & Gromit shorts" things, since it was Christmas and all, obviously.

Question:

I made a template for Word.  I changed the margins to 0.5" all 'round.  I always use the Print Layout view, so I see things like the margin rulers and things like that.

When I go to make a new doc using that template, the horizontal margins ruler displays fine, but the vertical one does not.  It will show the ruler for the space within the margins, but it does not show the space outside the margins.

Argh.  Screenshot.  As you can see, I'm zoomed out enough, on the off-chance it was something stupid like I was zoomed in too far for the out-of-bounds margin foo to display.  (Which has never happened, but hey.)

The vertical ruler is set to display, and I can open other documents and the ruler is displayed fine.

What am I missing?

A question: apparently, trans-fat is bad.  Why is it bad?

I emailed my therp to say due to new job, I can't show on Monday, and I am undercertain if I'll be able to see him at all, given the commute.  And I can't tell if I dreamed that he replied to me all disappointed, or if that actually happened but I deleted or misfiled his email.  This is my brain.

I have two more photos to go before pics of my Magic aren't on the front page of my Flickr thing.  *sigh*

- Josh is... he is an inspiration today, because he encouraged me to breathe and to just be.  In the face of interview-anx.  That was exactly what I needed this morning, especially given that fuck-me dream I had (of being late).  He was so calm and luck-wishing and... yeah.  Hi!  It's like one part NRE haze and three or four parts he's amazing.

- I has a job!  It's basic-level tech support, with additional projects on the side.  I impressed him with things like describing a Windows search tool that wasn't the Windows search tool, and that used regular expressions.  Also by half-designing a query in my head about transferring invoices from MySQL to SQL Server.  When he started using my name in hypotheticals, I knew I was in.  Yee!

- I hung out with my dad today.  We bitched about inadequate documentation, we bonded over anx of starting a new role-playing game, and he sold me on reading this Harry Turtledove series, about the Civil War in the US.  Heh.

- I walked approximately 1.6 miles barefoot today.  I have blisters, but I'm happy, so whatever.

- I am so glad to be myself again.

Today, further:

* I bought an ice pack.  I've been doing transcription stuff for [info]rosefox, and it took me a day or two to realise that hey, my laptop != good, and my desktop == fantastic.  (I need to see if a keyboard with a USB-also plug can plug into a laptop and be useful.  That would be so win.)  I am icing my arm now, as it's lightly sore due to typing and also carrying heavy-ass groceries home.  I moved to my desktop, I got an ice pack, I took two ibuprofen to be clear, and I have wispy ideas of typing-to-resting ratios dancing in my head.  Nice.

* I bought banana chips, Just Cuz.

* I applied to ten jobs today, to make up for my week of hell when I could barely get out of bed.  (Fuck you too, the pill.)  And I have four more to apply to tomorrow, even before I job-shop.  And I didn't throw up.

* I walked nearly three miles today, just cuz.

* I hung my picture.  I am now much more pleased with my room, messy as it still kind of is.

* I bought pretty nail polish for like $1.

Today:

- I transcribed some more.  I found Express Scribe, a freeware utility for Windows, Mac, and Linux that does exactly what I want it to do.  One way in which it's awesome is I can access the hotkeys even while in Word, which means I can pause, slow down, rewind, &c without hitting Alt-Tab all the time.  Ooooo.  It's irritating in that the hotkeys means I can't use them in Word, but how often do I hit F4 anyhow?

- I reorganised my power cord situation a bit.  This helped me get it so everything I want plugged in is done at the same time (one was too big, and was blocking two other plugs).

- I moved transcriptioning stuff over to my desktop, as it has better ergonomics.

- I did laundry.  I almost have a good clothing system here.  I am v. pleased.

- I got tea on a twofer sale - cinnamon apple, and Tension Tamer.  Whee!  Tea.

- I tidied up a bit.  I can do that in like 10 minutes - owning less stuff is rockstar.  So is having a little box for all my active miscellany.  Alls I need now is to clear out my DVDs to somewhere out of the way, and put my pills stuff in the cabinet.  ...  *does so*  *is pleased*

- I'm singing again.  I am singing again.  *♥s*  And Wednesday I will go to karaoke and sing even more.
